FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

  • WHAT IF I DON'T SEE A DATE AND TIME THAT WORKS FOR ME?
I often have other availability including same-day openings.  Please contact me directly (see below).

  • ADVANCE NOTICE
The booking system is currently set to require at least 1 day advance notice, so it shows no available times within the next day even though I may have availability.  Please email or text me.

  • CAN I BOOK MANY WEEKS IN ADVANCE?
I generally post availability only for the next two weeks, but would be glad to book you further out.  Please contact me directly.

  • IS THERE A WAIT LIST?
This system currently has no wait list.  If a lesson is already booked at a certain time, that time will display as unavailable.  However, I would be glad take your request and inform you if a booked slot opens up.  Please email or text me.

  • HOW CAN I CONTACT JOHN DIRECTLY?
Email: lessons@bicyclesolutions.com. Please include your mobile number (only used if needed for last-minute coordination).
    Text: 415-912-6999

  • DO I NEED A HELMET?
All students need a helmet.  You can buy a bike helmet at any bike shop, and at stores such as REI and Sports Basement.  Get one that you will enjoy wearing.  All helmets meet the same safety standards; you pay more for style and extra vents.

  • I AM BOOKING A LEARN-TO-BIKE LESSON.  DO YOU PROVIDE A BICYCLE TO LEARN ON?
For adult Learn To Bicycle lessons I provide a bicycle.  Please let me know your height so I can bring one that fits you.
For child lessons please contact me -- I have a 16" wheel "BMX" bike but it will not fit very young kids and may be too small for older kids.

Parents, the bike seat must be able to be lowered enough that your child can place both feet flat on the ground with knees bent -- "tip-toes" won't work for learning to balance by gliding.  If a reflector is mounted to the seat post below the seat, you may need to remove it in order to lower the seat completely.
